Board crews completed the water main extension at William
White Boulevard
from the western edge of the airport to Highway 47.

Improvements to United Avenue are continuing with the relocation at the Devine Channel completed and the relocation of the surge valve east of the County Shops underway.

A 20” main from the Belmont Pump Station heading east then south along the east side of the new CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolf football stadium will start soon.

The 8” cast iron main in the 4000 block of Ridge Drive and the 12” cast iron main running east on Valley Drive from Ridge Drive is under construction by Niebur Golf Inc. of Colorado Springs. Traffic problems along Highway 50 West in the area of Ridge Drive will be impacted by this construction.

Board crews are also involved in the City of Pueblo sewer project as they will be moving mains at the intersection of Grand Avenue and West 27th Street in advance of the 27” north side sewer interceptor under construction by the City.

Another project that will be coming soon is a 16” main connecting the new 16” main at the intersection of Highway 47 and William White Boulevard going south to the existing main along the east side of Highway 47 at East 16th Street.

Automatic Meter Reading work continues with 15 new Data Collection
Unit (DCU) stations currently installed throughout the City. Seven more are coming in April with another six arriving later this year for a total of 28 DCU stations. AMR meter installations began on March 26th at a rate of approximately 60 per day. There are currently four Board personnel and two Mountain States Pipe Supply staffers installing large meters and trouble shooting. By the end of April, Hexagram will provide the software to translate the data from the Star Software to the Board’s HTE software. This phase of the AMR project should be completed before next winter. The DCU stations are currently reading meters and so far this spring, without the foliage on the trees, the signals are being received by multiple units at distances greater than expected. We will have to see what happens in the summer when the trees are full of leaves.
