Water Resources and Legislation

Since water is a vital resource, we need to ensure an adequate supply is available year round. Jobs in water resources and legislation have to responsibility to manage our water rights and storage levels. These jobs are specialized positions that can be based in an office setting or outdoors but most often require employees to travel. The skills required to perform these job functions include a great deal of reading, math, computer experience, analytical ability, strong communications skills, knowledge of government entities and private entities that have an interest in water resources, and the legislation (laws) that govern water rights and usage. Examples include managers, supervisors, specialist, legal experts and lobbyists.

The minimum level of education required to perform water resource and legislation job functions is a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Usually, these employees are also required to obtain a college degree, professional license or certification.
